Democratic Texas Governor Ann Richards surprisingly lost reelection in 1994 to George W. Bush. At the 1988 Democratic Convention, Richards took shots at Bush's father, who was running for president. "Poor George. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth," she said during her speech.
