MCN Australia reports that it looks like Suzuki is jumping with heavy guns into the naked motorcycle battle. After the BMW K1200R, the Benelli TNT and Yamaha's MT-01, Suzuki is looking at launching their B-King motorcycle this year.

Suzuki B-King prototypeSuzuki B-King

Based on the prototype (left photo) they showed a few years back, the scaled back motorcycle still looks a hit (right photo).

Originally, the prototype had a 1300 cc, turbo charged 250 hp machine. Now, it's a 1500 cc with a normal engine and a reputed 175 bhp. Not too shabby.

But gone are also all the prototype special features, such as Heads Up Display (HUD) built-in to the special helmet, fingerprint technology, remote diagnostics, etc. Still, a killer motorcycle.

It would appear that the motorcycle will be launched at the Paris motorcycle show this September.

    Naked Bikes: What are they?

Okay, so what is a "naked bike" anyway? I'm actually riding one in Italy this summer - the Moto Guzzi Breva 750 - and I don't even know what it is. I'm more familiar with touring bikes. Can you define? Thanks,

    Carla

It's really just a motorcycle that has no fairing, and as little possible of bits around it. To me the B-King is as far away from the naked bike definition as you can possibly get without becoming a touring bike.

If I remember correctly, it was Ducati that started the naked bike thing.

    shame

when i saw the prototype B king i fell in love with it, i have never seen a better looking bike,i was even more happy when i heard it was going to be taken into production,

when i saw the scaled back motorcycle whitch was going to be sold i was very disapointed, the muzzle does'nt suit the bike,

and the color is also crap,

is there a way to let suzuki know that there wrecking a great bike?

    Daniel

Its the new generation byke aiming at a broader target market between touring byke lovers and naked byke lovers. It will no doubt have to compete with the BMW's diversified K1200R in terms of power and with Yamaha's MT-01 in terms of looks. However, still at a staggering 175 bhp it looks promising. If only Suzuki could stick to the original design in terms of looks!!

    Suzuki I hope you're listening.

If you don't do this B-King thing soon, BMW and Yamaha are going to sell alot of motorbikes. I've been on your biggest bikes since 1979 and your lastest Bandit is now too old. Hurry up!

I have been riding Suzukis since 77. I presently ride a Bandit which I love. ( Suspension and brake mods). The Bandit has reached the end of its life unfortuneatly. Wasn't interested in selling until B-King surfaced.

I wanted to put down a deposit with local dealer when news that it was going to enter production. Suzuki, don't sanatise it. Leave it as it was, you will sell heaps no matter the price. Don't make the B-KING a PUSSY when the concept bike was a lion.

I have been shopping for a Monster S4R for the last year. My purchase date was 2/06. If they sell the B-King in the States, I will NOT buy the Ducati. This design is what I have wanted to build since I rebuilt my 2nd KZ900. 1500cc? WOW! I am sold.

    Sziasztok!

Szerintem a Suzuki B-King a legvadabb moci a piacon. Nekem nagyon tetszik. Az adatai is nagyon jók, s emellett még nagyon jól is néz ni. Nekem legalábbis nagyon bejön. Csak ennyit akartam mondani. Éljenek a motorosok!

    Sziasztok

I really like the look, shape and colour of the proposed street version of this bike. It should be great to clock up the k's on with some comfort. No use looking good and being uncomfortable so that you connot ride it!

Well, I ride a new VMax because I still enjoy '4 cylinder hotrod acceleration' not top end. I will buy a new B-King as soon as it hits the dealer's floor...and then change sprockets for more low end!!

God knows...us VMax addicts have been waiting long enough for a new improved Max.....but if the shoe fits...I will wear it! And...I am already accustomed to tank scoops.

    Long live the(new)King!

Shame Suzuki didn't stick with the concept. As for a marketing exercise, isn't it suppose to gauge the market for a potential new production bike? We see the honey and end up with the jam....

I have the GSR and have been looking forward to purchasing the B-King when was in the market. These pictures are furstrating! I hope Suzuki finds a way to market a bike closer to the prototype.

I just can't get the bike out of my head. I am a proud owner of a Hayabusa (air filter, exhaust, fuel and some bling mods). I'll buy a B-king any day with or with out a turbo.

I have rode motorcycles since I was 15 years old (now 47), & my last two motorcycles have been V-maxes. I presently own & ride a 2001 V-max with a strectched swing arm (5-1/2"inches) & a 250 series tire which I built myself. I've been waiting for a bike to come out that would replace my bike as much as I like it, it's getting long in the tooth, weak frame, poor suspension/forks & low on power by todays standards, your new B-king looks wicked & if a turbocharged or supercharged version was introduced it would kick some serious ass. I would certainly be wanting this bike if it's anything like the prototype, then I could stretch it & put a 300 series tire in it.

    Regards...Jim.

I am also waiting for the B-King. I am sad thast they changed the look of the headlight and the rear fender. I am sure we will be seeing after markey parts that will make it look more like the prototype, or at leeast I am hoping. Oh yeah those mirrors, what were they thinking?? This bike calls for bar end mirrors, black paint, a fender eliminator, and a turbo.

I would buy it for sure if it would be much lighter. Sorry but 250 kilogram is way too much weight! Over 180 hp is ok but with no more than 180 kilogram. The ration of weight and power should be around 1, then the real fun begins!
